U-NEWS Account and Data Deletion

Effective date: 15 September 2026
Last updated: 15 September 2026

Univerza Co., Ltd. owns and publishes U-NEWS. This document explains how to initiate an account and data deletion request and what to consider before confirming it.

1. Initiate Account Deletion in the App

  1. Open U-NEWS.

  2. Go to Settings and select Data Management.

  3. Select Delete Account.

  4. Read the information and consequences displayed.

  5. Confirm that you want to delete your account and complete identity verification if requested.

  6. Check the result shown by the app.

Menu location for the released version: [Confirm the exact navigation path in the released app.]

If the app confirms that your request has been received, this acknowledges receipt. It does not necessarily mean that every data category and backup has already been deleted.

2. Before Confirming Deletion

Make sure you have kept any information you need, and consider the effects on:

  • Signing in and using your existing account

  • Your profile and personal preferences

  • Saved articles, selected interests, and usage history

  • Information and preferences stored in Today

  • Comments, images, or other content you submitted

  • Links between your account, membership access, and purchase history

Permanently deleted information may not be recoverable. Creating a new account does not mean that previous information or settings will be restored.

3. Scope of the Request

Account deletion covers the account and its associated personal data. It is more than signing out or deleting information from a single device.

Information to be addressed includes:

  • Account and profile information, including profile images

  • Device associations and sign-in authorisations

  • Interests, settings, saved articles, and usage activity

  • Personal information and preferences in Today

  • Notification settings and history

  • Comments and user-published content

  • Referral information and benefits associated with the account

  • Membership and transaction information, subject to applicable retention requirements

Confirmed scope and treatment for the released version:
[Confirm information deleted, information anonymised, information retained, and handling across all devices and relevant service providers.]

4. Information That May Need to Be Retained

The Company may need to retain certain records to meet legal obligations, such as required transaction records or information subject to an evidence-preservation order.

We will identify the information, reason, and retention period, and restrict its use to the relevant purpose.

Information retainedReason or applicable requirementRetention period
[Identify the information, or state that none is retained.][Specify reason.][Specify period.]

Truly anonymised information may remain in aggregate statistics. Simply changing a name or replacing an identifier does not necessarily make information anonymous.

5. Processing Times

  • Account and primary-system processing: [Specify the period and when it begins.]

  • Backup deletion or overwrite: [Specify the period or processing cycle.]

  • Progress updates and completion confirmation: [Specify the channel.]

If additional information is needed or an issue prevents completion within the stated period, we will explain the reason and next steps through an appropriate channel.

6. App Store Subscriptions

Deleting your U-NEWS account does not automatically cancel an App Store subscription’s renewal.

If you have an automatically renewing subscription, review and manage it separately:

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad.

  2. Tap your Apple account name.

  3. Select Subscriptions.

  4. Select your U-NEWS subscription.

  5. Choose Cancel Subscription if you want to stop renewal.

See Apple’s subscription cancellation instructions.

You can request account deletion without waiting for your subscription to expire. However, deletion may affect access through your existing account and does not automatically constitute a refund request.

7. Uninstalling the App and Deleting Selected Data

Uninstalling U-NEWS removes the app from your device. It does not submit a request to delete your account or information stored in the Company’s systems.

Using a history-clearing or partial data-management feature affects only the information identified by that feature. It does not delete the entire account.

If you want to delete certain information while keeping your account, use the available in-app options or contact support to discuss the applicable scope.

8. If You Cannot Use the App

If you cannot access the app, encounter an error, or cannot initiate deletion within it, contact:

Email: developer@univerza.co
Email subject: U-NEWS — Account or Data Deletion Assistance

Describe the issue and provide only the account information necessary for our team to respond and explain appropriate identity-verification steps.

Do not include passwords, one-time passwords, payment card details, or identity documents in your first email.

Email is an additional assistance channel. It is not a step that every user must complete before initiating deletion within the app.

9. Further Information and Responsible Company
